Korean food in demand after Psy’s ‘Gangnam Style’!!

The craze for rapper Psy’s “Gangnam Style” dance video has sent demand for Korean food soaring in supermarkets.Bosses at Tesco launched a range of 150 food products from Korea last month including Chum Churum Soju drinks, Bulgogi sauce and Katsuobushi Udon noodles.

They claim sales have more than doubled since the launch, helped by the 34-year-old singer’s massive hit, reported Sun online.

“We think that Korean food could be the next major culinary trend over here. Korean food is generally light and healthy with a lot of small-sized dishes, many featuring vegetables,” said Pally So, Tesco’s world foods buyer.The video for the South Korean singer’s song, which features his horse-riding dance, has become the most-viewed in YouTube‘s history after being watched more than 845 million times.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called the video a force for world peace.South Korea is Tesco’s biggest overseas market, but the chain’s chief Phil Clarke last month said that profits in the country have fallen because of restrictions on opening hours.
